Aims, contents and method of the course

Contents:
You will continue to improve your proficiency in simultaneous interpreting English to German and vice versa, building on what you have learned in Simultaneous Interpreting II. Source texts will include various recordings and live speeches.

Methods:
Simultaneous interpreting of speeches, discussions and interviews from various domains, research and terminology work at home, peer feedback, critical reflection on your own work, practicing outside class, feedback on and grading of interpretations by the lecturers.

Aims:
Improving your interpreting technique and presentation, expanding your vocabulary in your source and target languages, acquiring knowledge about the topics discussed.

Assessment and permitted materials

Continuous assessment of course work.

Your grade is determined by the grades you receive for your interpretations in class (grades 1 to 5), participation in class (participation in discussions, feedback, etc.), and homework (to be handed in on time).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Active participation, homework, interpretations.
Interpretations will be graded on the critera presentation (presentation style, prosodic features), form (terminology, style, other linguistic aspects) and content (correctness and coherence).

Grading:
90% 1
80% 2
70% 3
60% 4
<60% 5 (fail)

You may miss a maximum of 2 classes with good reason.
