Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Objectives:
- to improve listening skills
- to be able to discuss audio-/video-recorded texts and their context
- to improve text-based writing skills
- to understand the role of the medium

Content:
- texts spoken in different varieties of English will be used in class
- topics of the texts are to be chosen by the students at the beginning of the course
- students will encounter different text types

Methods:
- individual work (in class and at home); group and pair work in class
- text production (of both written and spoken texts)
- online activities
- reflecting on personal progress
- peer review

Assessment and permitted materials

30% - mid-term test
30% - end-of-term test
20% - home assignments
20% - participation in class and online activities

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

90-100%: 1
80-89%: 2
70-79%: 3
60-69%: 4
< 60%: 5 (fail)
