Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Translation of selected technical texts of different topics from German into Italian and vice-versa (parallel texts); we will work on the various topics about one month each trying to simulate a real working situation.
Assessment and permitted materials
Permanent control: compulsary attendence 20%, assignements and group work on the platform 20%, simulation of a translation job 30%, intermediate on-line test 30%. Both translation directions have to deserve a positive marking in order to pass successfully the course. Deregistration is possible until the 31st of March 2014.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The objectives of this course consist in comparing German and Italian parallel texts and in finding optimal strategic approaches to these texts in order to generate a translation adequate to a hypothetic commission, taking into account the conditions of a real working situation.
Examination topics
A particular topic will be treated in group work (tandems, peer-to-peer) - first approach to the topic, reports, terminological research, discussion of the different ways of translation and linguistic problems.
Students should work also on the e-platform (application, papers and general information ecc.). Students will have the opportunity to work on a translation project with a TM.
