Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Analysis of and tasks connected with different text types for different purposes and target groups. Preparation of the PIK-exam. After that focus on the translation of a website of a portuguese NGO (translation project).
Assessment and permitted materials
Continuous evaluation. 80% home assignments, 20% portfolio with corrected assignments to be handed in at the end of the semester.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Acquisition of basic analytical and translatorial skills. Understanding the source text and the task. Being able to do thorough research and to defending one´s choices. Assignment-focused text production.
Examination topics
Every week students are asked to download a text together with a specific task description from our moodle-platform. Assignments are to be handed in every Wednesday before 3 p.m. after having been corrected by a peer. All assignments are corrected by the teacher. In class, we will discuss the translation process and analyze the text which is to be translated next.
