Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In this lecture/class we shall explore the bounds of English geographically, historically, socially, and for different specialised areas and investigate the different language conventions that hold in these different areas.
Assessment and permitted materials
The quality of the work submitted / presented and one or two tests.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Get a feeling for the characteristics of different sorts of text in terms of register, style, format, and content.
Examination topics
Tasks will be set requiring research, difficult reading, writing texts for different purposes, either individually or in small groups; students will also make presentations in class. This class will be accompanied by a tutorial which students will be expected to attend.
