Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Purpose: Developing reading comprehension strategies and reading-based writing skills.Students acquire textual analysis methods that enable them to understand and discuss texts as communicative events.Aims: To improve the skills of reading comprehension and text-based writing, with a focus on exploring different types of meaning, organizing texts, and integrating sources.Methods: In-class reading and writing activities (individual, pair, and group work), online activities, home assignments in reading comprehension and text production.
Assessment and permitted materials
Participation in class and in online activities (10%), mid-term test (20%), final test (30%), and writing assignment(s) (40%). Attendance is mandatory (two absences allowed). Students are allowed to use a monolingual dictionary in exams.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Minimum passing score: 60% of all points.
Examination topics
Reading, analysing and discussing texts in class and in written assignments; paraphrasing, summarising and writing own texts.
