Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In the first part of the course, students will be introduced to the method of genre and register analysis. The acquired knowledge will help students identify relevant discourse and situational features (e.g. discourse structure, purpose of the text, target group) and produce appropriate texts. Different types of genres will be covered in the course.
In the second part of the course, students will learn how to analyse lexical, grammatical and discursive features of the text by using corpus linguistics methods (collocation and colligation analysis, semantic analysis, keyword analysis).
Students will work with authentic texts and different types of corpora.
