Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Study of texts taken from various different specific areas, focussing engineering and sciences (physics, IT and enology).

Assessment and permitted materials

Continuous evaluation. 75% home assignments, 25% portfolio with corrected assignments to be handed in at the end of the semester (Alternatively, end-of-term test - to be discussed at the beginning of the semester).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Acquisition of analytical and translatorial skills. Understanding the source text and the task. Being able to do thorough research and to defending one's choices. Assignment-focused text production.

Examination topics

Every week students are asked to download a text together with a specific task description from our moodle-platform. Assignments are to be handed in every Wednesday before 3 p.m. after having been corrected by a peer. All assignments are corrected by the teacher. In class, we will discuss the translation process and analyze the text which is to be translated next.
