If you do not attend the first lesson (without giving a good reason in advance), you will be deregistered from the course and your place will be given to the next person on the waiting list.

If you wish to deregister from this course, please do so by 31 October at the latest. After this time, it will not be possible for you to leave the course.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Contents:
You will continue to improve your proficiency in simultaneous interpreting from Chinese or English to German and from German to Chinese or English, building on what you have learned in Simultaneous Interpreting I. Source texts will include recordings, speeches held by the instructors, student presentations and discussions.

Methods:
Simultaneous interpreting of current texts from various domains, research and terminology work at home, peer feedback, critical reflection on your own work, practicing outside class, feedback on and grading of interpretations by the lecturers.

Aims:
Improving your interpreting technique and presentation, expanding your vocabulary in your source and target languages, acquiring knowledge about the topics discussed.

Assessment and permitted materials

Continuous assessment of course work.

Your grade is determined by the grades you receive for your interpretations in class (grades 1 to 5), participation in class (participation in discussions, exercises, feedback, speeches), and homework (to be handed in on time).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Active participation, homework, interpretations.
Interpretations will be graded on the critera presentation (presentation style, prosodic features), form (terminology, style, other linguistic aspects) and content (correctness and coherence).

Grading:
90% 1
80% 2
70% 3
60% 4
<60% 5 (fail)

You may miss a maximum of 2 classes with good reason.
