Aims, contents and method of the course

The course tackles a wide range of legal topics.The translation of different tetxs will be made as group work during the class hours and as individual homeworks. Preparatory reading, text analysis and terminological work will be made as homework assignments. Two project works (Italian and German) have to be carried out during the semester. Students will get the opportunity to learn autonomously concepts and terms of the semester topics and to simulate project work. Students will take over different tasks within the project e.g. project management, terminological research, translation and revision.

Assessment and permitted materials

• 30% (15% German-Italian and 15% Italian-German) simulated handwritten reduced Modul exam, 1900 characters without spaces, without any auxiliary means, 90' working time
• 20% group assignment (10% German-Italian, 10% Italian-German)
• 20% permanent control, assignments and group work on the platform
• final test 30% (15% German-Italian, 15% Italian-German) 90' working time for both directions, all auxiliary means are allowed

Deregistration: until 31st of October 2020

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

C2 level for both languages. We strongly advise to have completed the following courses: Basiskompetenz Translation A Italienisch and Basiskompetenz Translation B.

Examination topics

The final exam will tackle an issue discussed during the course lessons and consists of two translations (German/Italian and Italian/German). Any technical mean or reference work can be used for this task.
