Immanent course grading: grade based on the semester performance. Regular attendance is prerequisite for assessing the students performance. Continuous active in-class participation and written exams during the semester.

Immanent course grading: grade based on the semester performance. Regular attendance is prerequisite for assessing the students performance. Continuous active in-class participation and written exams during the semester.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Improvement of comprehensive as well as of writing skills. Systematic language training (broadening lexical knowledge, figures of speech, media and colloquial registers, etc.) as well as in-depth analysis of texts of various genres. Consolidation of language skills (grammar, syntax, idiomology and stylistics) as well as production of your own texts.

Examination topics

Weekly production of texts and in-depth discussion of the most common mistakes. On the basis of topical texts we will discuss typical elements of various textual genres. The course introduces and actively engages with strategies regarding content-oriented reading. The texts will be analyzed regarding structure, grammar, and coherence. On this basis, students will produce (informative, appellative, instructive) texts themselves.
