Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course is based on the contents of Basic Interpreting Competence, important theoretical considerations and quality criteria will be reiterated. Various preliminary exercises will help promote basic skills.
Interpreting situations typical in various settings will be analysed and practised, emphasis being on important aspects of conference terminology.

Assessment and permitted materials

Presence in class is required, active participation and the handing in of assignments are vital for positive final results. All classroom work marked and part of continuous assessment.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

At the end of the course, students are to understand and master the basics of simultaneous interpreting.

Examination topics

Preliminary exercises as required. Various interpreting strategies will be devised and practiced. Students will learn practicing on their own and will develop skills with the material introduced in class.
Students will be asked to prepare material for class work.
Feedback will be given by the teacher and by your collegues.
