Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Translating texts from Japanese into English and from English into Japanese. Texts to be translated will include text types such as users' manuals and patents and will cover selected topics from the field of technology and science.
Assessment and permitted materials
Active class participation (20%), homework assignments (20%), two written exams (30% each). Students are allowed to use mono- and bilingual dictionaries as well as electronic dictionaries in exams.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Developing competences in the field of technical translation in Japanese and English.
Examination topics
In the course of handling translation assignments, topics such as research methods and tools, technical terminology, text type conventions, quality checks, proofreading and text optimization, etc. will be discussed.

Will be announced in class and made available via the Moodle platform.

Die LVA ist auch als individuelle Fachvertiefung für die Schwerpunkte Literatur-Kunst-Medien, Konferenzdolmetschen und Dialogdolmetschen (sofern sie nicht schon zur Erfüllung der Module DD03 und DD04 verwendet worden ist) verwendbar.
