Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

English texts (various degrees of difficulty) from diverse fields and cultures will be read and analyzed, with a view to answering questions and writing short texts about them.

Assessment and permitted materials

Contributions to discussions, in-class assignments, homework assignments, mid-term test, final exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Understanding English texts in their contexts, identifying and carrying out further research needed for comprehension, reflection on the text and its context, answering specific questions, paraphrasing, writing short essays, summaries and adapted versions of the texts.

Examination topics

Preliminary discussion in class, preparation of the assignments by students individually or in groups. Discussion of problems and solutions in class, writing assignments to process and consolidate insights from class discussion.

Reading list

Texts will be available digitally. Additional reading to be announced in class if necessary.
