Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This lecture is designed for students of all languages. It focuses on the cinematic aspects relevant for the dubbing process, such as filmic codes, the semantics of film,visual constraints, etc. These topics complement the topics discussed in the second lecture on film dubbing (dubbing-specific issues) offered at the Centre of Translation Studies.
Assessment and permitted materials
Grades are based on the students' contribution during the lecture as well as group and individual assignments.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students are familiarised with the dubbing basics as well as the characteristics of natural-sounding dubbed dialogue.
Examination topics
Translation strategies are developed and applied on the basis of clips from major movies and TV series.
