Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Competences acquired during the BA "Transkulturelle Kommunikation" - language competences included - will be fostered. This course provides an introduction to all these competences for those students who do not hold a BA degree from the ZTW. The course gives an orientation for the subject fields "Specialized Translation and Language Industry" and "Translation in Literature- Media- the Arts" that have to be chosen after the completion of modules 01 and 02.
Basic competences in any form of translation (strategies, text typologies, register, cultural transfer, common and thematic knowledge, mining competence, technological skills etc.) referred to all students' language pairs.
After a brief theoretical introduction to all competences translation strategies will be tackled by analysing written and oral texts in all languages - group work. Focussed exercises will give an overview of the different competences needed for the two subject fields. Reflections on the meta-level (final portfolio).
