Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Beginning with practical exercises and theoretical/linguistic explanations, this one-semester course offers in-depth practice of the grammar of the modern, standard language. The course will focus on orthography, morphology (nouns, adjectives, numerals, and verbs) and word formation (derivation of words, and "Movierung";, i.e. the derivation of female words from male words).

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance and participation and two tests.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Sound use of Czech standard language.

B. Havráneks and A. Jedlickas "Strucná mluvnice ceská" (Prague: 1998) is strongly recommended for this course. Additional useful references will be presented on the first day.
