Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Contrastive text and genre analyses and practice-relevant translation assignments for different purposes and audiences (documents related with civil, penal and administrative law, information about justice system in Austria and Spain),
Application of translation theories
Contrastive analyses of the justice systems of Austria and Spain.
Analysis of legal language and terminology (spanish and german)
Discussion of relevant theoretical issues

If course units cannot be held with students in attendance on campus,
• exam-relevant learning materials (e.g. PDFs, PowerPoint presentations or videos) will be made available in the Moodle course and/or
• course units will be held synchronously as a video conference.

Assessment and permitted materials

* 2-3 written translations (individual and group work)
* Participation on discussions in the class
* Written examintation at the end of the semester.

Information about evaluation system will be provided in the moodle course.

In case of measures regarding Covid 19, the assesment will be continuous assessment, basing on group work, home and class assignments project work, tests, and participation on forums.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Compulsory attendance is required. (Max. 2 absences tolerated)

At least 60 points are required for a positive note.

1 (sehr gut): 100-90 points
2 (gut): 89 - 81 points
3 (befriedigend): 80 - 71 points
4 (genügend): 70-60 points
5 (nicht genügend): 59 - 0 points

Examination topics

All contents presented and discussed in the classes, specially all contents based on reflexion considerating translatological criteria and on suggestions commented in the classes.
