Aims, contents and method of the course

This class focuses on history and culture as well as how the concept of popular culture has evolved. US American history and culture, Australian history and culture as well as British, Canadian, South African and Indian history/culture will be presented and discussed. Terms and idioms are introduced and their origins examined.
We will be reading texts and discussing these.

Assessment and permitted materials

Final exam at the end of the semester. No auxiliary material permitted
Final exam will be end of January, March, June and October

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

90-100: excellent or 1
80-89: good or 2
70-79: average or 3
60-69: pass or 4
everything below 60 is a fail or 5

Examination topics

Lecture with interactive discussion. Reading and analysis of texts required.

Reading list

References to additional reading material to be provided on moodle and during the lectures. Powerpoints are available for the students through moodle platform.
All reading will be required for exam including glossary of new terms
