Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction to different modes of interpreting: consecutive with and without notes, liaison interpreting, simultaneous with preparatory exercises.

Assessment and permitted materials

80% Interpreting deliveries in class (cons, sim, liaison, group discussion) - graded 1-5
10% Short presentations - graded 1-5
10% home work and active participation
Minimum requirement: 60%

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

First contact with different modes of interpreting and basic skills in each mode. Raising awareness for fundamental interpreting issues and problems.

Examination topics

Preparatory exercises and interpreting exercises; simulation of different communicative settings that involve interpreting; short presentations by students; peer to peer feedback; expert feedback
