Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this seminar students develop their MA thesis project, from an initial idea to a detailed exposé. Work proceeds in steps – from guidance on procedures and the analysis of possible topics to guidance on relevant literature and formulating the research question and to developing a research design and the oral and written presentation of the exposé.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment is based on three types of work: (1) oral presentation of the exposé; (2) presentation of the feedback discussion with the prospective supervisor; (3) seminar paper (= MA thesis exposé: c. 4000 words, not including the bibliography)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Assessment is based on a 14-point system comprising a maximum of 4 points for the oral presentation, 2 points for the supervisor feedback discussion and 8 points for the seminar paper (exposé). At least 8 points are necessary for a passing grade.
