Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Translation of high quality German and Russian texts from the fields of the humanities for a professional audience as well as for a broader audience; systematic analysis of the texts to be edited with regard to technical linguistic, aesthetic, stylistic, formal and other features; research on parallel texts in both languages, terminology work specific to the subject.
Analysis of the communicative context: Who is writing for whom? What is the intention of a text? Who is it addressed to? What communicative conventions can be identified and by what means can these be reproduced in the other language?

Assessment and permitted materials

Discussion of translation strategies and solutions in the group. Presentation of individual papers; glossaries and word lists shared via Moodle.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Attendance and active participation; 2 tests during the semester (you will be allowed to use online resources.

Examination topics

Active participation in discussions and presentations; the written examinations correspond to the subject matter and level of difficulty of the course material.
