Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Presentation to answer the following questions: Why do we need technical communication? What is "transfer of knowledge"? Why is it necessary to know how to work on a and use a terminology-database?
Assessment and permitted materials
Written test at the end of the semester. Optionally, presentations and collaboration on glossaries can be credited as well.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
In-depth work in specific scientific area through analyzation of relevant literature and parallel texts. First preparation of the MA exam "Modulprüfung Fachübersetzen".
Examination topics
After a the presentation of the theoretical bases of terminology work, technical texts taken from various areas are presented, analyzed and worked on (PT-German, possibly also English). Presentation of research methods and collaboration on a class glossary. Getting to know a specific area throroughly which is presented by students individually.
