Aims, contents and method of the course

This class addresses problems of verbal and non-verbal cómmunication in trans-cultural communication. It provides methods for identifying and analysing these problems and also discusses such phenomena as culture shock, racism, diversity management and commmunication policies.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam at the end of the semester.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The aim of the course is to provide students with the means to analyse and manage transcultural communication situations as well as to make them aware of their own commnunicative behaviour and its effects on members of other cultures.

Examination topics

Various theoretical approaches to transcultural communication and their practical implications are discussed. students are encouraged to analyse their own communication patterns and to develop communication policies which reflect their own ethical, ideological and personal goals.
