Aims, contents and method of the course

Developing listening comprehension strategies, critical listening and discussion skills, as well as producing spoken and written texts embedded in a specific communication situation

Assessment and permitted materials

Participation in class and in online activities (10%), completion of written assignments (40%), mid-term test (20%), and final test (30%). Attendance mandatory (two absences allowed). Students are allowed to use monolingual dictionaries (no electronic devices).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The objectives of this course are as follows:
- to help students improve their listening comprehension and discussion skills;
- to raise students' awareness of writing processes;
- to hone students' writing skills with a focus on the communication situation and text organization

Examination topics

In-class listening, speaking, and writing activities (individual, pair, and group work), online activities, home assignments in oral comprehension and text production
