Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
Continuous assessment of course work. Interpretations in class will be graded.Your grade is determined by the grades you receive for your interpretations in class (grades 1 to 5), participation in class (participation in discussions, speeches, feedback) and homework. If necessary, up to two interpreting grades may be acquired via assessments of interpreting performance (where all students interpret the same source text and record their interpretation).

Interpretations (min. 4): 90%
Homework and active participation: 10%To pass this course, more than half of your interpreting performances must have a positive grade.Interpretations will be graded on the critera presentation (presentation style, nonverbal communication, voice), form (terminology, style, other linguistic aspects) and content (correctness and coherence).Grading:

70% 3
60% 4
<60% 5 (fail)You may miss 2 classes with good reason.

You will continue to improve your proficiency in simultaneous interpreting from English to German and from German to English, building on what you have learned in Simultaneous Interpreting I. Source texts will include recordings, speeches held by the instructors, student presentations and discussions.
This class is intended for advanced students. It is recommended that you are able to use the interpreting techniques taught in Simultaneous Interpreting I well before attending this class. A high level of both German and English is expected.Methods:
Simultaneous interpreting of current texts from various domains, research and terminology work at home, peer feedback, critical reflection on your own work, practicing outside class, feedback on and grading of interpretations by the lecturers.Aims:
Improving your interpreting technique and presentation, expanding your vocabulary in your source and target languages, acquiring knowledge about the topics discussed.
