Aims, contents and method of the course

Translation of complex technical German or English source texts from a wide variety of fields for expert readers

Assessment and permitted materials

Presentation, contribution to discussions in class, 2 written exams (mid-term and end-of-term test). Use of all available resources is allowed in the written exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Practice-oriented development of translation strategies and research skills

Examination topics

In class, we will discuss the translations prepared by students. Students will register for one presentation date and prepare the other texts of the semester so as to be able to join the discussion by suggesting alternatives. Source texts will be available on Fronter one week ahead of the presentation date and have to be handed in via Fronter in due time prior to the presentation.
