Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The main topic of this class will be Diversity, Minorities and Migration in Austria, and also in other German-speaking countries.

Assessment and permitted materials

Attendance, active participation, reading list, written and oral assignments, presentation, portfolios, written proseminar thesis paper.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Gaining a (deeper) insight into cultural knowledge about Austria and other German-speaking countries and continuing to work on one’s own language competence in German.

Examination topics

On the basis of various forms of media we will question what is commonly understood by culture and compare it with the term diversity. Students will prepare and present a chosen topic in pairs or small groups.
Input, students’ presentations, discussions, joint reading, writing a proseminar thesis paper.
