Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Basic competences in any form of translation and interpreting (strategies, text typologies, register, cultural transfer, common and thematic knowledge, mining competence, technological skills etc.) referred to the language pair German/Italian.
Assessment and permitted materials
Evaluation is competence-based, the marking will be done for each unit. The three units tackling theoretical and practical basic knowledge of translating and interpreting in both languages will be weighted 10% each. All these units have to be positive. The unit tackling clozing has also to be positive and will be weighted 14%.The final portfolio is up to 16%.The left percentage of 40% will be subdivided in 6/7 units i.e. about 6% for each unit. Each written or oral performance during the course, homework, tests, platform work, and the compulsary attendance will be taken into account in equal measure for the marking. For contents and competences of each unit please see the platform.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The competences acquired within the BA "Transkulturelle Kommunikation" - language competences included - will be fostered. This course provides an introduction to all these competences for those students who do not hold a BA degree from the ZTW. The course also will give an orientation for the subject field that has to be chosen after the completion of modules 01 and 02.
Examination topics
After a brief theoretical introduction to all competences translation and interpreting strategies will be tackled by analysing written and oral texts in both languages - among other things, group work is planned. Focussed exercises like clozing will give an overview to the different competences needed for the different subject fields.
Reading list
Bibliographic hints will be given during the course.
