Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Introduction to simultaneous interpreting. The main emphasis will be on German-to-English interpreting.
Assessment and permitted materials
Active participation and regular attendance are required. Only two absences are permitted. More than two absences will result in a failing grade. Ongoing monitoring of performance, with regular feedback from the lecturer and other students.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The development of skills in simultaneous interpreting mainly from German into English through practice on a variety of material at a beginner level, including presentations by students and the instructor. Particular attention will be paid to pronunciation, intonation and fluency of expression in English.
Examination topics
The development of techniques in simultaneous interpreting from German into English.
