Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Translation of texts from technology and nature science in the language pair German - Romanian within the framework of specific orders and by using relevant technology (CAT-tools – MemoQ, machine translation, pre- and post-editing). Students shall draw qualitative analyses of translations and argue their translation decisions.
Discussion, analysis, group work and homework.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active participation in class - 30 points (max. 2 course absences admissible), portfolio of translations - 30 points, final test- 40 points.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For translations/final test, the minimum positive grade starts with 60 points.
1 (very good) 100-90 points
2 (good) 89-81 points
3 (satisfactory) 80-71 points
4 (adequate) 70-60 points
5 (unsatisfactory) 59-0 points

Examination topics

Final test: translation of two specialized texts (German - Romanian, Romanian - German)
