Aims, contents and method of the course
Course content:Text analysis and production with special attention to various text functions and types, media, target groups, writing process(es), revision, argumentationCourse objectives:The objectives of this course are as follows:- to improve writing skills for a wide variety of situations, especially with regard to text conventions;- to develop students' ability to produce texts which are appropriate to a given situation and assignment.Methods:Students will achieve the course objectives by:- analysing and assessing a variety of texts (individual/group projects);- writing, adapting/rewriting and optimizing texts for various situations, target groups and media;- reflecting on and discussing various steps in the text production process.
Assessment and permitted materials
Assessment will be based on the following:- Two tests (30% each);- Completion of written assignments (40%).Students are allowed to use a hard copy dictionary during the tests.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
In order to pass the course, students must attain a passing grade on all components the course.
Examination topics
Both tests will be based on the text types and exercise formats used in class and in the written assignments.
