Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course will follow major changes in public opinion and the visual in American trends. What American Artists have been working and how have they become popular in the US and abroad? Who were they? What about women? How did America attitudes change? We will concentrate on the visual as well as texts from the period.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment will be made through class participation, group work, presentation and quizes

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

To understand the American way of life through the art created from 1960 to today. How does art effect society and specifically how is art integrated in the social and economic history of the United States

Examination topics

Artwork will be shown and discussed. New ideas will be presented. Students will work in groups and present their ideas.

Reading list

Howard Zinn: A People's History of the United States and Reading
additional material will be put on Moodle each week.
Students will make lists of new expressions (glossary) and these will be discussed in class the following week.
