Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course will follow major changes in public opinion and the visual in South African trends. What South African Artists have been working and how have they become popular in the US and abroad? Who were they? What about women? How did South African attitudes change? We will concentrate on the visual as well as texts from the period.
Assessment and permitted materials
Assessment will be made through class participation, group work, presentation and quizes
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
To understand the South African way of life through the art created from 1960 to today. How does art effect society and specifically how is art integrated in the social and economic history of South AFrica
Examination topics
Artwork will be shown and discussed. New ideas will be presented. Students will work in groups and present their ideas.

Readiing material will be handed out in class or distributed via moodle
