Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Work together on easy to medium-difficulty texts from a wide range of fields (power industry, ecology, tourism, etc.), beginning with an explanation of how to carry out a translation job and then covering topics ranging from research resources all the way up to translating in both languages (Czech and German).
Assessment and permitted materials
Regular participation, translations in class and for homework, and an oral examination on the last day of class.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Develop the ability to translate factual texts independently
Examination topics
Work together to analyse several different translations of short homework passages, and correction of independently translated texts by the course instructor as well as a detailed discussion of them in class.
Reading list
Information on general dictionaries will be presented on the first day. Dictionaries and web pages on the respective topics will be recommended throughout the semester.
