Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course deals with the special terminology of selected fields and its contexts, special purpose texts types and their conventions, principles of technical communication and research options.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written end-of-term test (no use of resources other than paper and pen allowed) to check students' knowledge of basic technical vocabulary and terminology in context - summaries and brief quasi-translations German-English, English-German.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students should acquire basic special terminology and background knowledge in selected fields, develop strategies to improve their word power, enhance their research skills and refine their ability to understand and produce technical texts.
Examination topics
"Chalk and talk" alternating with interactive discussion of English texts, sources, research examples. The main language of tuition is English, juxtaposed with German.

Texts, wordlists, literature, useful links, video and audio recording and further material will be made available on Moodle.
