Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
Continuous assessment of interpretations in class (grades 1 to 5).
Additionally, two assessments of interpreting performance will be held in the course of the semester. The topics for these assessments will be communicated in advance. You may take glossaries into the booth.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The semester grade is composed of:
2 performance assessments: 20% each
Other interpretations in class: 50%
Transcription & analysis: 10 %Interpretations will be graded on the critera presentation (presentation style, prosodic features), language (use of vocabulary, style, other linguistic aspects) and content (correctness of content and terminology, coherence).
Grading:
90% 1
80% 2
70% 3
60% 4
<60% 5 (fail)The grade is based on the continuous assessment of course work and attendance is mandatory. You may miss a maximum of 2 classes with good reason.A high level of both German and English is expected.

Examination topics
The topics for the performance assessments will be announced in advance.
Students studying English as their A or B language will interpret from English into German in the first assessment (4 April) and German into English in the second (13 June). Students whose C-language is English will interpret from English into German in both.

You will continue to improve your proficiency in simultaneous interpreting from English to German and from German to English, building on what you have learned in Simultaneous Interpreting I. Source texts will include recordings, speeches held by the instructors, student presentations and discussions.
This class is intended for advanced students. It is recommended that you are able to use the interpreting techniques taught in Simultaneous Interpreting I well before attending this class. A high level of both German and English is expected.Methods:
Simultaneous interpreting of current texts from various domains, research and terminology work at home, peer feedback, critical reflection on your own work, practicing outside class, feedback on and grading of interpretations by the lecturers.
Aims:
Improving your interpreting technique and presentation, expanding your vocabulary in your source and target languages, acquiring knowledge about the topics discussed.
