Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Course work is based on different genres of texts both in German and in Spanish. The various collected texts serve as a basis for the course. These will be handed out during the semester or made available on the e-learning platform, after registration of the student by the teacher.
Assessment and permitted materials
Achievement of translatory basic competence by contrastive work with texts, from simple to medium-difficult ones, of various genres in Spanish or German. By considering various topics in Spanish and Latin American culture, the course offers the possibility to make cultural, idiomatic, and lexicalic comparisons.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Very good knowledge of German and Spanish. Course work is based on different genres of texts and specialist texts both in German and in Spanish. The various collected texts serve as a basis for the course. These will be handed out during the semester or made available on the e-learning platform, after registration of the student by the teacher.
Examination topics
In the context of this course, Spanish serves partly as target language and partly as source language, depending on the students’ knowledge of different languages. Written texts by the students will be presented orally, contrasted with other text productions and subsequently commented upon.
For each translation handed in students will produce an analysis as well as documentation of research, including a glossary, in written form. The glossary has to include at least the following categories: designation in both languages, with sources; definition in both languages, with sources; context sentence in both languages, with sources.
