Assessment and permitted materials
The course is exam-based. All oral and written work in class, homework and platform work are included in the assessment.
Attendance is always compulsory. Participation in class is an essential part of the assessment of performance.

Learning the basic skills of interpreting
Conscientious completion of tasks on the learning platform
Weekly provision of the required interpreting services
Self-analysis of the interpretations (selected recordings are analysed in detail)
The grade is made up as follows:
Weekly interpreting services (at least 7): 70%
homework and active participation in class: 30%
To pass the semester, more than half of the assessments must be passed.

Examination topics
Performance is continuously assessed in each exercise. Overall performance is assessed at the end of the course. In the middle and at the end of the semester, a video will be interpreted into Russian and German. This performance is used to determine the exact grade.

Introduction to quality criteria for interpreting services, such as coherence, completeness and prosody, information on voice training
Contents: Interpreting of simple to medium-difficulty speeches and lectures, shorter passages to begin with, then increasing the speed of the speaker and the duration of the interpreted passages over the course of the semester. Balanced mix of German and Russian speeches.
Method: Introduction to the various techniques for getting started in simultaneous interpreting (shadowing etc.)
Feedback on individual interpreting performances, peer-to-peer feedback, students are encouraged to record their interpreting and then critically analyse it.
