Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Students will be trained in the basics of analytic reception of oral texts. They will work intralingually (English) as well as interlingually (English - German). For better understanding, some of the first texts will be German. Students will practise listening and understanding texts, present their own texts and repeat oral texts. Notetaking will be briefly introduced. The course also helps students to get a first idea what interpreting is all about.
Assessment and permitted materials
Presence in class is required, active participation and the handing in of assignments are vital for positive final results. All performances are marked and part of continuous assessment.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
At the end of this course students should have the basic competencies necessary for understanding and repeating oral texts. They should be able to understand texts in an analytical way and produce coherent texts. Self-reflection and speed of reaction will be enhanced.
