Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Discussion of English texts (various current topics) and their cultural context; reading strategies; structured text production (outlining, rephrasing, summarizing, etc.). Course held in English; exclusively English text production.
Assessment and permitted materials
Class performance; homework assignments; two short mid-term tests (45 min. each) and one final exam (90 min.).
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students will acquire different reading strategies for various purposes; students will develop awareness of functionality and cultural context of texts and the relevance of these factors for reading comprehension; improvement of text production skills.
Examination topics
Lecture; reading and text production in class; discussion of texts prepared as homework; individual and team work.
