Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The students will learn how to process translations assignments. Understanding the process of translation as producing at text for a certain purpose and for a specific target group, analyzing text in a given context, developing research competences, optimizing the text in the translation, production of texts in German and English ; proofreading and editing. Texts will be discussed and translated from German into English and from English into German.
Assessment and permitted materials
Two tests (one mid-term and one end-of-term); homework assignments; class performance (attendance and participation); regular class attendance mandatory. Dictionaries (German-English/English-German) may be used. In one of the two tests, all sources (including the Internet) may be used.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Mitarbeit (10%), Hausübungen (30%) Zwischenprüfung (30%), Semesterprüfung (30%)
