Aims, contents and method of the course

Panel discussions on a variety of topics chosen by the participants

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance and contributions to the discussions, at least one presentation.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Presentations: to present your viewpoint on a controversial issue by defending an argument in a way that is appropriate in a semi-public setting and covers all important aspects in a stringent and convincing manner.
Contributions from the audience: to make public statements, expressing your opinions politely, constructively and concisely.

Examination topics

For each of our weekly discussions 3 - 4 students will prepare brief presentations of (preferably opposing) viewpoints on a topic. These will be followed by a general discussion.
