Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Objectives:
- to develop a range of reading skills suitable for different purposes
- to improve text-based writing skills
- to systematically work with, speak about, and use texts
- to understand the role of texts in society and in our field

Content:
- different text types will be used
- the role of context will be discussed
- the topics of the texts used in class will be chosen by the students at the beginning of the course

Methods:
- pair and group work (only in class)
- assignments (reading; reflecting on tasks; producing texts)

Assessment and permitted materials

40% - assignments
20% - in-class and online activities
20% - mid-term test
20% - end-of-term test

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

90-100%: 1
80-89%: 2
70-79%: 3
60-69%: 4
< 60%: 5 (fail)

Students need to pass at least one of the tests (with a score of 60% or more) and attain at least 60% overall in order to pass the course.
