The course will be held fully in person if possible. Full online teaching may be necessary depending on public health regulations. There will be no hybrid teaching.
If you do not attend the first lesson (without giving a good reason in advance), you will be de-registered from the course.
If you wish to de-register from this course, please do so by 31 October at the latest. After this time, it will not be possible for you to leave the course.
Continuous assessment of course work. If you miss more than two classes (with good reason), you will receive a semester grade of 5.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Building on Simultaneous Interpreting I and I and Conference Interpreting I, this class will include the following:
- interpreting in simultaneous interpreting settings based on real-world examples
- research and preparation for interpreting assignments on different topics
- analyzing rhetorical and contextual characteristics of authentic settings
- learning and improving interpreting strategies in different contexts
- acquiring and using soft skills: contact with clients, collaborative preparation for interpreting assignments, working as a team, etc.
- analysis of interpretations: self-evaluation and peer feedback
- analysis of quality criteria for simultaneous interpreting
- optimizing output and presentation

Assessment and permitted materials

Continuous assessment of course work. Your grade is determined by all written and oral exercises in class, at home, and online.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Your contributions are weighted as follows:
- analysis of your own and other interpretations 10%
- active participation (glossaries, research, preparation) 30 %
- interpreting in class 60 %
You may miss up to 2 classes with good reason.
