Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Analysis and discussion of authentic texts; production of original texts of various types based on specific instructions; creative writing tasks (rewriting and paraphrasing of texts). Text types to be discussed include newsletters, letters, newspaper articles and columns, narrative texts, instructions, reports and press releases.
Assessment and permitted materials
Participation/performance in class, completion of written assignments, mid-term test, end-term test.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
On completion of the course, students will have learned how to identify text types and their features and how to produce effective original texts. The course also aims to improve students' writing skills and to raise their awareness of textual features and patterns.
Examination topics
Classroom discussions, group work (mini presentations), quizzes.
