Aims, contents and method of the course
Media history, theory and psychology; identifying marketing- and advertising strategies and assessing culturally defined information in the mass media; customers' needs; entertainment industry.
Assessment and permitted materials
Attendance and participation in class, portfolio, graded home work assignments.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Identifying and assessing information in the media; developing strategies for the effective use of language and style in media publications.
Examination topics
Based on various communication concepts and selected examples from the media, problems of perceiving and assessing culturally defined information shall be discussed in order to develop adequate approaches. Adaption and translation of media texts (advertising, TV, movies) with a view to target group-specific handling of language and style in media publications; individual and group work.
