Aims, contents and method of the course
Overview of problems and approaches found in legal translation (differences in legal systems, certified translation, etc.), discussion of legal terms and hands-on translation of real-life legal texts (English-German, German-English)
Assessment and permitted materials
Classroom work, translations, mid-term test, end-of-term test
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students are to be made aware of the special problems involved in translating legal texts and acquire background information as well as hands-on experience in order to solve such problems.
Examination topics
Translation of legal texts with feedback, interactive terminology work, brief presentation of key topics
