Aims, contents and method of the course

- Ice breaker games

- Phenomenological approaches to games

- Different forms and requirements of playing together.

- Theory of games

- Theory and practice of cooperative and competitive games

- Theory and practice of games from different cultures

- Theory and practice of interaction and communication games

- Theory and practice of adventure games

Assessment and permitted materials

- Active participation

- Presentation on the chosen topic

- Continuous assessment of coursework. Submission of the seminar paper in time.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The course aims to give students a deeper insight into pedagogical perspectives on games.

The students shall develop the following knowledge and skills:

- Knowledge about basic characteristics of games

- Knowledge about different forms of games

- Knowledge about pedagogical uses of games in school

- Ability to stage different forms of games in practice

Examination topics

- Group discussion and analysis of relevant literature concerning various topics

- Presentation of the topics in both theory and practice
