Peter GRÖPEL (Topics): Psychological Determinants of *Sport

Different types of sport place different demands on athletes, which in turn may reflect considerably different factors underlying successful performance in a sport type. In order to build up necessary skills for a particular sport and target psychological interventions, the identification of psychological determinants of that sport constitutes the essential first step. The aim of this bachelor thesis therefore is to select a particular sport and, using a structured interview with athletes, identify the relevant psychological determinants. Students will learn and apply Performance Profiling, an easy-to-use method to identify physical and psychological determinants of sports. They are expected to conduct (and analyze) semi-structured interviews with 6 athletes (and/or coaches) from their selected sport. The supervision will be provided in group settings; there will be four obligatory meetings (see above) onsite in Lab Sport Psychology (USZ II, 1st floor).

Clara SCHEER (Topics): Emotions in *Sport

*select a sport type (e.g. “Emotions in Soccer”).

This topic focuses on how emotions influence the performance of an athlete. The IZOF-model (Emotion Profiling) is an ideographic approach, which allows to analyze personal emotional experiences in connection with the individual-optimal or -suboptimal performance. The empirical data are derived and described considering the background of independently researched theory. Athletes and coaches will be interviewed from their own sport.
The supervision of the BA work takes place in a small group setting (four meetings), attendance is mandatory. Dates see above; each 15:30-17:00 on site in room 1.11 (USZ II, 1st floor).
